Product Highlights
Description
The GRW85798 is an XL ratcheting locking flex combination wrench set, 12 point, covering 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, and 3/4 inch, in full polish chrome, alloy steel, extra long format.
Three specifications stack here and each solves a different problem. Ratcheting keeps the wrench on the fastener so it never has to be repositioned. Extra long gives the leverage that a standard wrench does not — torque is force times distance, and a longer handle means less effort at the hand and less chance of slipping. And the flex head is the one that changes what is possible.
A flex head pivots, so the wrench body can come away from the fastener at an angle. That means the handle can clear an obstruction that a straight wrench would run into — reaching over a manifold, around a bracket, or past a frame member, with the head still square on the nut.
The locking part is what makes the flex head usable rather than annoying. An unlocked flex head flops, so as soon as real torque is applied the head swings to a random angle and the wrench cams off. Locking holds the chosen angle, so the wrench behaves like a rigid one at whatever angle you set.
The 12 point engagement halves the swing arc. For breaking seized fasteners, use a 6 point instead — 12 point can round a tight hex.
Applications include automotive and equipment service and machinery maintenance.
