The indexing head is the feature and it addresses the fundamental limitation of a pry bar: a pry bar is a lever, and a lever only works if you can get the handle where your hands are. A fixed bar reaching into an engine bay or a machine frame frequently ends up with the handle against something solid, leaving nowhere to push. Indexing lets the head lock at a chosen angle through 180 degrees across 14 positions, so the tip goes where the work is and the handle comes out where the hand is.

That is a genuine capability rather than a convenience, because the alternative is a bar that cannot be used at all in that position.
