Uniweld Nitrogen Regulator RHP800

The Uniweld RHP800 is a high pressure nitrogen regulator for refrigeration testing and purging.

Higher outlet pressure capability is needed for testing systems designed around contemporary refrigerants, which operate at pressures well above older equipment.

R-410A systems in particular have design pressures substantially higher than the R-22 systems they replaced, and a test pressure appropriate for R-22 equipment does not adequately test an R-410A circuit. A regulator whose range tops out below the required test pressure simply cannot perform the test.

The corresponding caution is that a regulator capable of higher pressure can also deliver pressure beyond what a system should see. Test pressure must be set to the value specified for the equipment, not to whatever the regulator will produce.

Components within a system may have lower ratings than the pipework, and testing above their rating can damage them without any obvious sign at the time.

Everything downstream of the regulator must also be rated for the pressure applied, including hoses and gauges. A hose rated for a lower pressure will fail, and it fails suddenly.

The safety relief arrangement on the regulator protects against a fault allowing cylinder pressure through.

Confirm the pressure range suits the systems tested, that the cylinder connection matches, that all downstream equipment is adequately rated, and inspect the regulator, gauges, and hoses before each use.
