TPI TPICPB36B 36" Commerical Belt Drive Portable Blower

The TPI TPICPB36B is a 36 inch commercial belt drive portable blower.

Note that the source states nothing beyond the name — no CFM, no horsepower, no amperage, no cord. The comparable 42 inch blower in this range carries a full specification. This row cannot be compared or bought as listed. Obtain the data.

Belt drive is the specification and it is the reason this exists alongside direct drive blowers.

On a direct drive fan the blade is on the motor shaft, which puts the motor in the airstream. That is fine for moving clean air and it is a problem for everything else: the motor is in the path of whatever the fan is moving. Hot air, humid air, dust, fumes, paint overspray — all of it goes over and through the motor.

A belt drive puts the motor out of the airstream and connects it with a belt. That means the fan can move hot, dirty, or contaminated air without cooking or clogging the motor, which is why belt drive dominates in foundries, paint booths, drying, and confined space ventilation.

The trade is the belt: a wear item, a tensioning job, and a source of noise.

It also decouples fan speed from motor speed, which lets the designer pick both.

Portable means it moves to the problem.
