The Relton REL08Z-NRTP is Rapid Tap metal cutting paste, an all-metal cutting paste, ozone friendly and formulated for all hard metals, temperature range -20°F to 450°F, 8 oz jar, 1 each and 12 per case.

The paste form solves a problem specific to hand work, and it is the same problem in every trade: liquid runs off.

Tapping a vertical hole, drilling overhead, or working on a piece held in a vice means a poured fluid is gone before the tool reaches depth. The cut runs dry from there, and dry is where taps break.

A paste clings. It stays on the tool, stays in the hole, and keeps working through the cut. For hand tapping, where there is no coolant flow at all, that is the difference between a clean thread and a snapped tap in a nearly finished part.

The ozone friendly note points at the reformulation. The original generation of these products relied on chlorinated chemistry that is now restricted — and there is a second reason to care in this catalogue's market: chlorinated solvents decompose into phosgene under the ultraviolet light of a welding arc. A fabrication shop that taps and welds in the same bay has a genuine interest in the reformulated product.
