The Red Devil RDV08090I is a heat resistant silicone sealant, red, 10.1 fl oz cartridge, 1 each and 12 per case.
Red conventionally designates the high-temperature grade in silicone sealants, and heat is what this product is sold on. Verify the specific temperature rating against the manufacturer's data before selling it against a requirement — "heat resistant" is a description, not a number, and the number is what a customer is choosing on.
What silicone does that other sealants cannot is stay flexible across an extreme temperature range. Most sealants have a service range bounded by the point at which they go brittle at one end and soften at the other. Silicone's backbone is a silicon-oxygen chain rather than a carbon chain, and that chemistry simply does not care about temperature the way organic polymers do. It stays rubbery hot and cold.
That is what makes it the material for ovens, flues, engine components, and hot flanges — joints that expand and contract through a huge range and need a seal that moves with them.
The limitation worth stating: nothing sticks to cured silicone, including paint. A silicone joint is permanent and it cannot be finished over. Where a joint has to disappear into a wall, polyurethane is the material.
The 10.1 fl oz cartridge is the standard gun size.
