The Gorilla Glue GOR5000806 is Original Gorilla Glue, an all-purpose adhesive in an 8 oz bottle.

The 8 oz size is the working bottle — double the 4 oz — and it is worth thinking about against this product's shelf life rather than buying on unit price alone. Gorilla Glue is moisture-cured polyurethane, which means the same moisture that cures a joint also cures the glue in the bottle. Expect around a year of shelf life, and less if the cap is not wiped and sealed tightly after each use. Buying the larger bottle makes sense for someone using it regularly; for occasional use it can cure solid before it is finished.

The chemistry is what makes the product distinctive. It is water activated, and it expands roughly three times as it cures, driving into the pores and grain of the substrate to form a mechanical bond rather than a surface film.

That dictates the method. Lightly dampen one surface — do not saturate — and apply the glue thinly to the dry surface. For dense hardwoods, dampen both. Clamp for 1 to 2 hours; allow 24 hours for full cure. The expansion generates real pressure, and an unclamped joint gets pushed apart by the glue.

It is 100% waterproof, bonds wood, stone, metal, ceramic, foam, glass and concrete, and is paintable, stainable, and solvent free.

Roughen shiny surfaces first. Apply above 40 °F.
