The Gorilla Glue GOR105629 is heavy-duty duct tape, 1.88 inch x 30 yards, in black.

Duct tape is a three-layer construction and understanding it explains what separates grades. There is a cloth scrim in the middle, a polyethylene film on the back, and an adhesive on the face. The scrim gives tensile strength and lets the tape tear cleanly by hand across its width; the film sheds water; the adhesive does the holding. Heavy-duty grades put more into all three — a denser scrim and a thicker, more aggressive adhesive.

The practical result is a tape that holds on rougher, dirtier, and more irregular surfaces than a standard grade, and holds for longer before it creeps.

Black is the specification here and it is a working choice. Where a repair or a hold should not draw the eye — on dark equipment, behind a set, on staging, on black cable — black tape disappears where silver announces itself. Entertainment, staging, and AV work specify black for exactly this reason.

The 1.88 inch width is the standard duct tape width, and the 30 yard roll is the standard length.

Applications include repairs, bundling, sealing, staging and entertainment, HVAC temporary work, moving and packing, and general maintenance.

Worth noting: despite the name, duct tape is not the correct material for sealing HVAC ductwork long-term — foil tape is. The name is a historical accident.
