The Rectorseal RRS23631 is T Plus pipe thread sealant with PTFE, white, 4 oz.

The 4 oz can is the toolbox size and it is the one most tradespeople should actually buy.

Sealant is used in small amounts. A joint takes a brushful, and even a busy day of fittings does not consume much. What does consume it is time: an opened can skins over, thickens, and eventually will not brush. A 4 oz can gets used before that happens; a 16 oz can bought for the price per ounce sits in a van for three years and gets thrown away.

The application rule matters more than the quantity. Sealant goes on the male thread only, and it starts one or two threads back from the end rather than at the very tip. Sealant on the leading threads gets pushed into the pipe when the joint is made, and that material ends up downstream in exactly the places that cannot tolerate it — valve seats, orifices, and controls.

The PTFE gives lubricity for smooth assembly without the shredding that makes tape a liability in control systems.

White denotes the T Plus grade in the Rectorseal range; No. 5 is yellow and Tru-Blu is blue, and they are different formulations.
