Moldex MOX2200N95 Disposable Respirator Particulate Medium/Large White N95

The Moldex MOX2200N95 is a disposable N95 particulate respirator, medium/large, white, dual non-adjustable headstraps, no exhalation valve, latex straps, blue straps, molded shape, 108 month shelf life, 20 per box.

Note the latex straps, because it is the specification that disqualifies this respirator for some wearers entirely. Latex causes genuine allergic reactions, and a respirator strap is in prolonged contact with the face and neck. Anyone with a known sensitivity needs the non-latex version, and a facility using these should know who that is.

N95 is the filter class and both halves of it carry meaning. The 95 is the efficiency: at least 95 percent of airborne particles captured. The N is the oil rating, and it means not resistant to oil. In an environment with oil aerosols — machining coolant, some spraying operations — an N-series filter degrades and an R or P rated filter is required. That distinction gets missed constantly.

No exhalation valve means exhaled breath is filtered too, which is cooler and harder to breathe through, and which means the wearer is not exhaling unfiltered air into the space.

Dual non-adjustable straps are simpler and fit a narrower range of faces than adjustable ones.

The 108 month shelf life is nine years.

None of this matters without a seal. Fit testing and clean-shaven faces are what make a respirator work.
