The Honeywell North NORN75001L is an organic vapour cartridge, low profile.

The low profile designation is worth explaining because it sounds cosmetic and is not.

Cartridges project from the face. That projection is what fouls on things — it collides with a welding hood, it obstructs the wearer's downward vision, it catches on structure in a confined space, and it makes wearing a face shield awkward. Every one of those is a reason a respirator gets pushed aside, and a respirator pushed aside protects nobody.

A low profile cartridge reduces the projection. The result is better peripheral and downward vision, and compatibility with the other protective equipment the same person is wearing.

Organic vapour is the class, and it covers solvents, thinners, fuels, and the aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons that most industrial chemistry runs on. Under the OSHA and ANSI colour code, organic vapour cartridges are identified black.

The point that must be made about any gas cartridge: the sorbent has a finite capacity and no gauge. It fills, and when it is full the vapour passes through. Smelling solvent through a cartridge means it is already too late — some solvents have poor warning properties, and the wearer has already been exposed. Change-out schedules are calculated from the exposure, not guessed.
