Silicone is the specification and it addresses the reason people fail fit tests and then quietly stop wearing respirators.

A respirator works by sealing to the face. Nothing else about it matters — the finest cartridge in the world does nothing if air is coming in around the edge. And the facepiece material is what determines whether that seal holds through a shift of talking, sweating, and moving.

Silicone is soft, it stays soft, and it conforms. Rubber facepieces stiffen with age, ozone, and skin oils, and a stiff facepiece stops sealing to a face that moves. Silicone is also easier to clean and far more comfortable over hours, which matters because a respirator that hurts comes off.

The dual cartridge design balances weight on both sides and halves breathing resistance compared to a single cartridge, which is why it is standard for extended wear.

Note the size: large. Respirators are sized, and a facepiece that does not fit does not seal — which is the entire point of quantitative fit testing rather than trying one on and deciding it feels fine.

Facial hair at the sealing surface defeats any respirator. There is no version of this that works around a beard.
