MJ Brunin MERV 11 Filter 16X25X5-1/4 M1-1056

The MJ Brunin M1-1056 is a MERV 11 deep pleated media air filter with a nominal 16 by 25 inch face and a 5-1/4 inch depth, supplied for media air cleaner cabinets.

Depth is the defining characteristic. A five inch media filter contains several times the pleated surface area of a standard one inch panel of the same face dimension. That additional area produces two substantial benefits: pressure drop across the filter is markedly lower for a given MERV rating, and dust holding capacity is far greater, so service intervals extend from monthly or quarterly to typically six to twelve months depending on conditions.

The lower pressure drop is what makes MERV 11 filtration practical without penalising system performance. Where a one inch MERV 11 filter can meaningfully restrict airflow in a system with marginal duct design, a deep media filter delivers equivalent filtration with considerably less resistance.

Deep media filters require a purpose built cabinet installed in the return duct. They do not fit standard one inch filter racks, so the housing must be verified along with the filter dimensions.

MERV 11 captures a substantial share of 1 to 3 micron particles including fine dust, pollen, mould spores, and pet dander.

Applications include residential and light commercial media air cleaner cabinets on furnaces, air handlers, and heat pumps. Confirm actual filter dimensions and cabinet model before ordering.
