The MJ Brunin CQANC1625 is a MERV 11 pleated air filter with a nominal 16 by 25 inch face dimension, supplied for residential and light commercial air handlers and furnaces.

MERV 11 occupies a well judged position on the filtration scale. It captures a substantial proportion of particles in the 1 to 3 micron range, which includes much of the airborne dust, pollen, mould spore, and pet dander that affect indoor air quality, without imposing the pressure drop of a MERV 13 or higher filter. That balance matters because filtration and airflow are in direct tension: a higher MERV rating in equipment not designed for it raises static pressure, reduces airflow across the coil, and degrades both capacity and equipment life.

Pleated construction is what makes MERV 11 practical. Folding the media multiplies surface area within the same frame dimension, so the filter presents far more area to the airstream than a flat panel, keeping face velocity and pressure drop manageable while extending service life.

Before upgrading filtration in existing equipment, verify that the blower can move design airflow against the added resistance. Measuring external static pressure after installation is the reliable check.

Applications include residential furnaces and air handlers, light commercial rooftop units, and fan coil equipment. Confirm actual filter dimensions rather than nominal, and replace on a regular schedule rather than by appearance.
