The ECCO 599384 is a 14 by 20 inch fan coil air filter with a nominal half inch depth, supplied for fan coil units and air handlers that accept a thin panel filter.

Half inch filters occupy a specific niche. Fan coil units, particularly in multifamily buildings, hotels, and light commercial fit-outs, are frequently built with a shallow filter rack that will not accept a standard one inch panel. Fitting a thicker filter by force distorts the rack, bypasses air around the edges, or obstructs the coil, so matching the actual rack depth is not optional.

The trade-off of a thin filter is surface area and consequently service life. With less media depth, a half inch filter loads faster than a one inch equivalent at the same airflow and requires more frequent replacement. On fan coil equipment this is compounded by the fact that filter neglect shows up quickly as reduced airflow, a frosting coil, and eventually a locked out or damaged system.

Regular replacement is the single most effective protection for the coil and blower. A loaded filter raises static pressure, reduces airflow, drops coil temperature, and increases energy consumption across the equipment's life.
