The Loctite LOC2087067 is Loctite PST 567 thread sealant, high temperature, 50 ml tube.

PST stands for Pipe Sealant with Teflon, and 567 is the high-temperature member of the family. The reason it exists rather than tape is worth spelling out.

PTFE tape seals threads and it shreds while doing it. The fragments travel downstream into valves, orifices, and control components, where they cause faults that take far longer to diagnose than they took to create. Anyone who has stripped a control valve and found tape in the seat stops using tape.

A liquid anaerobic sealant has nothing to shred. It fills the thread's helical path and cures there.

The other advantage is that tape is a lubricant as well as a sealant, which means a taped fitting can be over-tightened easily — and over-tightening a tapered thread splits the female fitting. That failure is common and expensive.

567 is formulated for higher service temperatures than the standard grades, which is what puts it on steam, hot oil, and process lines.

The cure is anaerobic — liquid in air, solid when air is excluded and metal ions are present.

Applications include process piping, steam, hydraulics, and high-temperature systems.

Applies to tapered metal pipe threads.
