Loctite 495 is a general-purpose cyanoacrylate and the material list — rubber, metal, plastic — is the honest description of what CA does best: dissimilar materials, small parts, tight fits.

The mechanism explains both the strength and the limits. Cyanoacrylate cures by reacting with trace moisture on the surfaces, which happens in seconds and produces a rigid polymer in the bond line. That speed is the entire proposition: no clamping fixtures, no cure ovens, no waiting.

What it means practically is that CA is excellent at small, well-fitted joints and poor at everything else. It does not fill gaps — a bond line thicker than a few thousandths cures slowly and weakly. It is poor in peel and impact, because the cured polymer is rigid and brittle. And it does not like heat.

So the joint has to fit. A CA bond on a close-fitted joint is genuinely strong; the same adhesive across a sloppy gap is nothing.

The 1 oz bottle is a working size for a bench.

One caution that bears repeating: CA bonds skin instantly, and eye contact requires medical attention rather than a rinse.
