The Loctite LOC135429 is Loctite 401 Prism instant adhesive, surface insensitive, 20 gm net weight bottle.

Surface insensitive is the specification and it solves a real limitation of ordinary cyanoacrylate. Standard CA cures by reacting with trace surface moisture, and that reaction is initiated by alkaline conditions. On acidic surfaces — wood, paper, cardboard, leather, some plastics — the cure is slow, weak, or simply does not happen. Anyone who has tried to superglue wood and watched it sit there wet has met this.

A surface insensitive formulation cures reliably across acidic and porous substrates as well as the easy ones. That is what makes 401 the general-purpose CA rather than a specialist one.

What has not changed is what cyanoacrylate is good at and bad at. It excels at small, well-fitted joints with thin bond lines. It is poor at gap filling, poor in impact and peel, and it embrittles. A CA joint is strong in tension across a tight fit and disappointing everywhere else.

One practical caution worth repeating: cyanoacrylate bonds skin instantly, and eye contact is a medical matter, not an inconvenience.

At 20 gm this is a working bottle rather than a production size.
