Loctite LOC135375 Thread Sealant # 262 thread locker Medium to high strength

The Loctite LOC135375 is Loctite 262 thread locker, medium to high strength, 250 ml bottle / 8.45 oz.

At 250 ml this is the production bottle, and the size identifies the buyer: a line, a rebuild shop, or an operation threadlocking hundreds of fasteners rather than dozens.

That is worth thinking about at the point of sale, because anaerobic threadlockers have a shelf life. A 250 ml bottle bought for occasional use will be thrown away part-full. The 50 ml bottle exists for benches; this one exists for volume.

Loctite 262 is a red threadlocker, and red is the specification. Red means high strength — a joint intended to stay assembled. Blue threadlockers come apart with hand tools. Red generally requires heat, typically to around 250°C, before the fastener will turn.

So the choice is about the future. If the fastener may need removing with ordinary tools, blue is correct. If it must not move, red is. Getting it wrong means drilling a bolt out of an assembled machine.

262 sits at the moderate end of the red range — high strength without being described as permanent.

The cure is anaerobic: liquid in air, solid when air is excluded and metal is present.

Applications include production assembly, machinery, and automotive rebuild.
