The Loctite LOC135355 is Loctite 242 thread locker, medium strength, 50 ml bottle / 1.69 oz.

This is the standard 50 ml working bottle of the blue medium-strength threadlocker, and 50 ml is the size that actually gets used up rather than going off in a drawer.

That is worth saying because anaerobic threadlockers have a shelf life, and a large bottle bought for occasional use is money spent on product that will be thrown away. The 10 ml bottle suits a toolbox; 50 ml suits a bench that uses it weekly.

What 242 does is fill the clearance between engaged threads with a cured solid. A threaded fastener does not fill its hole — there is clearance, and vibration lets the fastener creep within it and back out. The cured anaerobic locks the thread forms together and stops that. It also seals against moisture and corrosion.

The cure is anaerobic: liquid in air, solid when air is excluded and metal is present. That is why the bottle does not set.

Blue means medium strength — removable with hand tools. Red means high strength, generally requiring heat.

Note that 242 wants clean, dry threads. Loctite 243 is the oil-tolerant version, which cures on as-received oily fasteners and is more forgiving in the field.
