Product Highlights
Description
The Jackson Safety JKSS26100 is a Sellstrom Advantage Series variable ADF welding helmet, black, with a 3.54 x 1.57 inch view, 2 sensors, shade 4 light state, 9-13 dark, automatic power control, external shade control, L/M/H sensitivity, S/M/H delay, and 0.1/0.5/0.9 dark-to-light settings.
The external shade control is the specification that matters day to day. On a helmet with internal controls, changing shade means taking the hood off, opening it, and adjusting — so welders do not do it. They set a shade and live with it across processes that need different ones. An external control adjusts on the fly, hood on.
The sensitivity setting handles a real problem: ambient light, sunlight, and neighbouring arcs can trigger a filter, and low-current TIG can fail to trigger one. Sensitivity tunes that threshold.
The delay setting controls how long the filter stays dark after the arc stops. That is not a preference — a hot puddle continues emitting, and a filter that clears instantly exposes the eyes to it.
Dark-to-light times of 0.1/0.5/0.9 seconds are the clearing speeds available.
Note the 3.54 x 1.57 inch view — this is a compact window, suited to confined and out-of-position work rather than open bench welding.
Two sensors is the entry configuration; more sensors reduce the chance of the arc being shadowed from them.
