The Irwin IRW1964719 is a Quick-Grip 18 inch medium-duty one-hand bar clamp.

One-hand operation is the entire proposition and it solves a genuine problem. A conventional bar clamp needs one hand to hold the workpiece in position and two more to work the clamp — which is one hand more than anybody has. The usual result is the work shifting at the moment the clamp bites, which is exactly when position matters.

A Quick-Grip is operated by squeezing a trigger with the same hand that holds it. The other hand stays on the work, holding it exactly where it needs to be, right up until the clamp takes over. For anyone working alone, that changes what is possible.

Medium-duty is an honest designation and worth respecting. These clamps apply useful pressure for holding, positioning, and gluing — they are not the tool for forcing a warped board flat or for structural clamping, where a heavy-duty bar clamp or a screw clamp belongs. Asking a medium-duty clamp for that pressure damages the mechanism.
