The FyterTech NPSO1PM100 is an NPS Essentials 15 x 18 inch oil only single-ply sorbent pad, medium weight, white, single-ply meltblown polypropylene, 15 gallon absorbency, 100 pads.

Weight is the specification and the choice between medium and heavy is a real one rather than a good-better ladder.

Heavy weight pads hold more — 18 gallons per hundred against 15 here — and they are tougher, which matters when a pad is being dragged across concrete or walked on. That is the pad for a genuine spill: an amount of liquid that needs absorbing and a pad that needs to survive the process.

Medium weight is the maintenance pad. Most sorbent use is not a spill at all — it is a drip tray, a leaking fitting, a wipe-down, a pad under a machine that weeps. For that, holding capacity is irrelevant because the pad is being changed on a schedule, and a lighter pad costs less and works fine.

Buying heavy weight for wiping duty is spending money on capacity nobody uses.

Oil only means the polypropylene is untreated and hydrophobic: it repels water and takes hydrocarbons. White is the oil only colour across this range; grey is universal.

Meltblown construction gives very fine fibres with a capillary network between them, which is what draws and holds the liquid.

Saturated sorbents are hazardous waste.
