DiversiTech Tube Expander Swaging Spin Tool SSPIN6000

The DiversiTech SSPIN6000 is a swaging spin tool used to expand the end of copper tubing so that one tube can be joined to another without a coupling.

Swaging forms a socket in the end of a tube, sized so that a tube of the same diameter fits inside it. The joint is then brazed exactly as a fitting joint would be, but without the fitting.

The advantages are direct. One less component to buy and stock. One brazed joint instead of two, which halves the opportunity for a leak at that connection. And no fitting body, which removes a small restriction and a small amount of pressure drop from the line.

On long runs assembled from multiple tube lengths, the accumulated saving in joints is meaningful.

The requirement is that the swage must be formed properly. It needs to be round, of the correct depth, and free of splits at the mouth. A swage formed on hard drawn or work hardened tube will crack, and a cracked swage is not repairable.

Tube must be cut square and deburred before swaging, and the swaged socket must be cleaned before brazing exactly as a fitting socket would be.

Confirm the tool covers the tube sizes required, keep the mandrel lightly lubricated, and inspect each swage for splits before assembly.
