DiversiTech Tube Expander Flaring Spin Tool F5000

The DiversiTech F5000 is a tube expander and flaring spin tool for forming flares and expanded tube ends.

Spin type tools form a flare or an expansion by rotating a shaped mandrel into the tube end under pressure, working the metal progressively rather than pressing it in one action.

The advantage of a rotating action is surface finish. A flare formed by spinning has a smoother sealing face than one formed by direct pressure, and the sealing face is what the joint depends on. A rough or scored face gives a leak path even when everything else about the joint is correct.

The progressive working also reduces the tendency of the tube to crack, since the metal is deformed gradually rather than in a single stroke.

Tools of this type are commonly driven by a power drill, which makes the operation quick and consistent. Drill speed matters, since excessive speed generates heat and can work the metal too aggressively.

The preparation requirements are unchanged. The tube must be cut square and deburred, the flare nut must be fitted before the flare is formed, and the tube must be soft enough to work.

Confirm the tool covers the tube sizes required, keep the mandrel clean and lightly lubricated as recommended, and inspect every finished flare for cracks, splits, or an uneven sealing face before assembly.
