DiversiTech Line Set Cleaning 1-1/8 Nozzle Exp With 5 Pucks

The DiversiTech HLN118 is a line set cleaning nozzle for 1-1/8 inch tubing, supplied with five foam pucks.

Line set flushing addresses contamination left in existing tubing when equipment is replaced, and it matters in two situations.

After a compressor burnout, the lines hold acid and carbonised debris that will attack a replacement compressor. Fitting new equipment to uncleaned lines is a leading cause of repeat failures.

When changing from R-22 with mineral oil to an HFC refrigerant with POE lubricant, residual mineral oil remains coating the tube walls. Mineral oil is not miscible with HFC refrigerants and will not return to the compressor. It accumulates in the evaporator where it insulates the tube surface and reduces heat transfer, while the compressor gradually loses its oil charge.

Foam pucks are driven through the line by pressure, wiping the internal surface mechanically rather than relying on the flushing agent alone. The combination of chemical action and mechanical wiping removes considerably more than either does separately.

The pucks emerge carrying whatever they have collected, which gives a direct indication of how contaminated the line was and whether further passes are needed.

Thorough drying with nitrogen after flushing is essential, since residual flushing agent in the system is itself a contaminant.

Confirm the nozzle and puck sizes match the tubing, and use a flushing agent compatible with the system.
