DiversiTech Conduit Vinyl Grommet Asst. ED320

The DiversiTech ED320 is an assortment of vinyl grommets used to protect conductors passing through sheet metal openings in equipment cabinets, enclosures, and panels.

Grommets address a specific and common failure mode. Sheet metal knockouts and drilled openings leave edges that are sharp enough to cut conductor insulation, particularly when the equipment vibrates in normal operation. A conductor resting against a bare metal edge inside a running air handler or condensing unit will eventually wear through its insulation, producing a ground fault, a nuisance breaker trip, or a control circuit short that damages the transformer. Because the wear occurs slowly and out of sight, the resulting fault often appears months or years after installation and is time-consuming to locate.

A vinyl grommet lines the opening with a smooth insulating edge, eliminating the abrasion point entirely. The material also provides electrical insulation between the conductor and the grounded cabinet, adding a second layer of protection.

Supplying grommets as an assortment is practical because equipment openings vary widely in diameter, and a technician working in the field cannot predict which size the next job will require. Carrying a mixed selection means the correct size is available without a supply house trip.

Applications include air handler and furnace cabinets, condensing unit electrical compartments, control panels, junction boxes, refrigeration equipment, and any sheet metal enclosure where conductors pass through a wall.
