DiversiTech Conduit Armored Connector ED2887

The DiversiTech ED2887 is an armored cable connector used to terminate armored cable at boxes, enclosures, and equipment.

Armored cable connectors perform two functions that matter equally. They provide mechanical retention, clamping the cable so that pulling or vibration does not transmit stress to the conductor terminations inside the enclosure. They also protect the conductors from the cut end of the armor, which is sharp and would abrade insulation over time as the cable shifts. Proper connectors, with anti-short bushings where required, are the difference between a durable termination and one that develops a ground fault years later.

In HVAC and refrigeration installations, armored cable is commonly used for equipment connections in commercial buildings, for runs through finished spaces where rigid raceway is impractical, and where mechanical protection is required but flexibility is needed.

Correct installation requires cutting the armor cleanly without nicking the conductors, fitting the anti-short bushing where the cable type calls for it, seating the connector fully, and tightening the clamp adequately without crushing the cable. Overtightening deforms the armor and can damage conductors; undertightening allows the cable to pull loose.

Applications include equipment connections in commercial and institutional buildings, mechanical room wiring, panel and junction box terminations, and general electrical installation where armored cable is specified.
