Wesanco Strut Channel Shallow 10 14GA Short W500EHPG10

The Wesanco W500EHPG10 is a ten foot length of 14 gauge shallow profile strut channel with short slots.

Shallow channel is selected where space is restricted or where loads are light enough not to require a deeper section.

The common applications are wall mounted supports where the channel must sit close to the surface, light duty pipe and conduit runs, equipment mounting frames, and situations where a deep section would foul adjacent services.

The constraint is span. A shallow section deflects more than a deep one under the same load, and deflection is usually the governing limit rather than strength. A support that has sagged visibly may be nowhere near failure but is unacceptable in appearance and may have transferred load onto services it was meant to support.

Reducing the spacing between supports is the remedy where a shallow profile must be used. Two supports at half the spacing carry the same total load with far less deflection than one at full spacing.

Where a shallow channel is being considered for a load near the limit of its table, the deeper profile is generally the better decision, since the cost difference is small relative to the labour of installing it.

Confirm profile, gauge, slot pattern, length, finish, and load capacity against the actual span and load. Use manufacturer load tables rather than estimating.
