Uniweld Torch Accessory Gas Tank Adapter MC F41

The Uniweld F41 is a gas tank adapter for MC size fuel gas cylinders.

MC and B are the two common small cylinder sizes in portable fuel gas outfits, and they use different valve connections.

Choosing between them is a working decision. MC cylinders are smaller and lighter, making an outfit more portable, and they suit occasional work and situations where the equipment must be carried some distance. B cylinders hold more and run longer, suiting sustained work at a fixed location.

For acetylene there is a further consideration. The maximum rate at which gas may be withdrawn is related to cylinder size, because drawing too fast pulls acetone out of the cylinder along with the acetylene. A small cylinder has a correspondingly low withdrawal limit, and using a tip that demands more gas than the cylinder can supply exceeds it.

The consequences are a poor flame, acetone reaching the equipment where it causes damage, and permanent reduction of the cylinder's capacity.

Matching the tip size to the cylinder size, not merely to the work, is therefore part of selecting equipment for acetylene.

Adapters must be the manufacturer's specified components for the gas and cylinder involved, and must never be used to defeat the thread keying that separates fuel gases from oxygen.

Confirm the adapter suits the cylinder and equipment, respect withdrawal and pressure limits, and leak test connections with soap solution before lighting.
