NAVAC Thermometer Bluetooth Temperature Clamp

The NAVAC NST2 is a Bluetooth temperature clamp for refrigeration and air conditioning measurement.

Temperature clamps are generally used in pairs, and the reason is that both superheat and subcooling are wanted simultaneously.

Superheat is derived from suction pressure and suction line temperature, and indicates how the evaporator is being fed. Subcooling is derived from liquid line pressure and liquid line temperature, and indicates how much liquid is backed up in the condenser.

Taken together they diagnose the system. High superheat with low subcooling suggests undercharge. Low superheat with high subcooling suggests overcharge. High superheat with high subcooling suggests a restriction between the condenser and the evaporator. Low superheat with low subcooling suggests a metering device passing too much refrigerant.

No single measurement distinguishes these, which is why both are needed and why a pair of clamps is the practical minimum.

Reading them simultaneously rather than sequentially matters on a system whose conditions are changing, since sequential readings describe two different moments.

Applications include refrigeration and air conditioning diagnosis, charging, and commissioning.
