The 62 inch length accommodates equipment with a long footprint, typically horizontal air handlers, larger fan coils, and units installed with an attached coil section or filter cabinet. Sizing the pan to the full equipment footprint matters more than it appears: a pan that underlies only the coil section leaves the blower and filter sections unprotected, and leaks at a filter cabinet or a poorly sealed cabinet joint will bypass the pan entirely.
