Mars Heating Element Restring Kit 5KW 240V 3/8 DI

The Mars M34600 is a 5 kilowatt, 240 volt electric heating element restring kit with 3/8 inch diameter insulators, supplied as a field replacement for the open resistance coil in electric furnaces, air handlers, and duct heaters.

The kit provides the nichrome coil and mounting hardware rather than a complete heater assembly. When a coil burns open but the rack, insulators, sequencer, and limit controls remain serviceable, restringing restores the heater at substantially lower cost than a full assembly replacement and is generally available from stock when a matched OEM heater is not.

The 3/8 inch insulator dimension is the fitment detail that governs whether the kit will physically work. Ceramic insulator bore and spacing vary between manufacturers and heater series, and a coil that does not seat correctly in the existing insulators will sag into contact with the frame and fail rapidly, or short to ground.

At 5 kW on 240 volts, the element draws approximately 20.8 amps, which is a common residential and light commercial electric heat stage size.

Before restringing, establish why the original opened. Low airflow from restricted filters, dirty coils, or a failing blower motor is the usual cause, and an unaddressed airflow problem will destroy the new coil in the same manner.

Applications include residential and light commercial electric furnaces, air handlers, heat pump supplemental heat sections, and electric duct heaters. Confirm voltage, wattage, coil resistance, and insulator dimensions against the original before installation.
