Loctite LOC209750 Protective Coating Maxi-Coat 16 oz

The Loctite LOC209750 is Loctite Maxi-Coat protective coating, 16 oz.

A protective coating in an aerosol is a corrosion control, and understanding what it is not is as useful as knowing what it is. This is not paint. Paint is a finish that also protects; a protective coating is protection with no pretension to appearance, applied where appearance does not matter and corrosion does.

The situations are the ones paint handles badly. Assembled machinery that cannot be dismantled and prepared. Fasteners, brackets, and hardware in a plant. Equipment stored outdoors or between seasons. Anywhere a surface needs to be kept from rusting without a shutdown, a blast, and a primer.

What determines whether it works is the same as for any coating: preparation. A protective coating over grease, scale, or existing rust is protecting the contamination rather than the metal, and it will lift. Clean and degrease first — which is what a dedicated cleaner and degreaser in the same range is for.

The aerosol format is the point. Coating an assembled machine means reaching into it, and an aerosol reaches where a brush does not.

At 16 oz this is standard aerosol packaging.

Applications include machinery, plant hardware, stored equipment, and maintenance.

Ventilate and follow the manufacturer's directions and SDS.
