Description
The Duro Dyne 31114 is a 100 count pack of CL12-KL100 cable lock hangers used for suspending ductwork and equipment from structure.
Cable hanging systems suspend loads on steel wire rope with a locking device that grips the cable at any point, allowing the height to be set by pulling the cable through and released with a small lever.
The advantage over threaded rod is speed and adjustability. A rod hanger has to be cut to length, and adjusting it means turning nuts. A cable hanger is fitted, the load is lifted to position, and the cable is pulled through until it is right. On a large installation with many hangers this saves considerable time, and levelling a long run is far quicker.
Cable systems are also lighter and less obtrusive, which matters in exposed installations.
The points requiring attention are the same as for any suspension. Each hanger has a rated capacity, and that rating assumes the load hangs vertically. Angled hangers carry higher tension than the load they support, and the angle has to be accounted for.
The locking device must be engaged correctly and the free cable end secured or trimmed.
Confirm the cable and lock capacity against the load, verify the structural attachment suits the substrate, and ensure hangers are installed within the manufacturer's angle limits.
