Duracell DURCEF14 i1000 Charger 6-8 hrs

The Duracell DURCEF14 is an i1000 charger, model CEF14, with a 6 to 8 hour charge time. It includes 1 charger and 4 AA NiMH batteries, features DURALOCK Power Preserve Technology, smart auto shut-off, and an LED charge status indicator, and is guaranteed to last 5 years.

The 6 to 8 hour charge time is the specification worth reading honestly, because it is a design choice rather than a shortcoming. Fast chargers exist, and they cost cell life: charging NiMH quickly generates heat, and heat is what degrades a rechargeable cell over its service life. A slow charger treats the cells gently and they last longer. For batteries that live in a drawer and get charged overnight, an eight hour cycle is invisible and the longevity is real.

The smart auto shut-off is what makes that work. Overcharging is the other way to kill NiMH cells, and a charger that stops when the cells are full rather than continuing to push current is protecting the investment.

The LED charge status indicator tells the user where the cycle is rather than leaving them guessing.

Including four AA NiMH cells makes this a complete starting kit rather than a charger requiring a separate purchase.

Applications include households, offices, workshops, and facilities running AA-powered equipment continuously — where the arithmetic of rechargeable versus disposable turns favourable quickly.
