DiversiTech 3/16 Hex Anchor 7101HCX

The DiversiTech 7101HCX is a 3/16 inch hex head masonry anchor for fastening to concrete, block, and brick.

Head style is chosen for how the anchor is driven and for what it bears against.

A hex head is driven with a socket or nut setter, which transmits torque positively without any risk of the driver slipping out of the recess. This matters on masonry anchors, which require substantial torque as the threads cut into the base material. A driver camming out of a recessed head under that load damages the head and can leave the anchor part driven.

Hex heads also present a wide bearing surface, which suits fastening through sheet metal or slotted brackets where the head bears directly on the fixture.

Where a hex head is unsuitable is in applications requiring a flush or low profile finish, or where the head would foul adjacent components.

Driving technique matters regardless of head style. The anchor should be driven at a steady rate with the driver held square, and driving should stop when the head seats. Continuing to drive after the head bears strips the threads cut in the base material, and a stripped anchor hole cannot be recovered by fitting a longer anchor in the same position.

Confirm anchor diameter, length, embedment, required hole size, and base material suitability. Clear the hole thoroughly before setting.
