Coppertop DURMN13R8DWZ17 Duracell Value Batteries D

The Duracell DURMN13R8DWZ17 is a Coppertop Value battery, MN13R8DW, in D size, supplied 8 per pack with 12 packs per case.

The 8-pack sits between the retail 4-pack and the institutional 12-pack, and it targets the customer who has been caught out. That is a real segment: households in outage-prone regions, boat owners, RV operators, and anyone who has once needed a working lantern and found dead cells. They buy more than one fill and store the rest.

The Value designation reflects the unit economics of a larger pack. Cost per cell falls as pack size rises, which is the entire proposition.

D cells are bought for stored energy — long runtime, meaningful current, or both. Lanterns, large flashlights, and portable radios are the applications, and every one of them is equipment that matters most when the power is out and the shops are shut.

That standby role carries a practical caveat worth knowing. Alkaline cells self-discharge slowly over years, and a cell left in a device for a long period can leak, which destroys the device it was protecting. The correct practice for emergency equipment is cells stored beside the device rather than in it, and rotated periodically — which is exactly what an 8-pack supports.

Applications include emergency preparedness, marine and RV, camping, and household standby equipment.

Users include households in outage-prone regions, boat and RV owners, and outdoor retailers.
