Coppertop DURMN1300 Alkaline Battery 1.5 V D

The Duracell DURMN1300 is a Coppertop alkaline battery in D size, model MN1300, rated 1.5 V. Supplied 12 per pack, 6 packs per case.

The 12-pack is the specification that identifies this as institutional rather than retail stock. A household buys D cells two or four at a time; an organisation that maintains flashlights, lanterns, portable radios, and emergency equipment across a site buys them by the dozen and stores them.

D cells occupy a particular niche and it is worth being clear about it. They are large because they hold a great deal of energy, and that energy is bought for two reasons: sustained runtime and high current. A lantern that must burn through a night, a large flashlight, a portable radio, or a piece of equipment drawing continuously — these are D cell applications. Nothing small uses them.

That makes D cells fundamentally an emergency and standby size in most facilities, which raises the question that governs the purchase: alkaline cells self-discharge slowly but they do self-discharge, and a cell sitting in a lantern for five years may not deliver. Stock rotation is the practical answer, and buying in 12-packs is what makes rotation manageable.

Applications include facilities maintenance, emergency preparedness, marine and outdoor operations, industrial sites, and institutional equipment.

Users include facilities managers, safety departments, schools, and municipal operations.
