Appion Vacuum Pump 1/2"D 6 Megalflo Evacuation

The Appion MH120006EAK is a 1/2 inch by 6 foot MegaFlow evacuation hose.

Half inch evacuation hose represents the upper end of practical hose sizing for this work, and the reasoning follows from how gas behaves at very low pressure.

At normal pressures, flow through a hose is governed by familiar fluid dynamics and a quarter inch hose passes refrigerant perfectly adequately. At the pressures involved in deep evacuation, the gas is so rarefied that flow becomes limited in a different way, and the cross sectional area of the path dominates. Doubling the hose diameter has a disproportionate effect on flow.

This is why evacuation practice differs so markedly from charging practice, and why the hoses that serve well for one are poor for the other.

The corresponding principle applies to everything else in the path: fittings should be full bore, runs should be short, and Schrader cores should be removed using a core removal tool.

A six foot length balances reach against restriction; shorter is better where the equipment allows.

Applications include refrigeration and air conditioning evacuation.
