Ullman ULLHTS-2 Telescoping Inspection Mirror Round 3-1/4 in dia

The Ullman ULLHTS-2 is a telescoping inspection mirror, round, 3-1/4 inch diameter, 10-1/2 inch to 29-1/2 inch.

At 3-1/4 inches this is the large mirror in the range and it is the one for searching rather than confirming.

Field of view is proportional to mirror area, and a 3-1/4 inch mirror shows several times what a 1-1/4 inch one does. That is the difference between sweeping a space to find something and seeing the space. Looking for a leak, a crack, a dropped fastener, or a fitting whose location is not known, the large mirror is the tool.

The cost is access and reach. It will not go through a narrow gap — and note the shorter extension here, 29-1/2 inches against 36-3/8 for the smaller mirrors. A bigger mirror is more weight on the end of a thin telescoping shaft, and the shaft is the limit.

So the sizes are a set rather than a ladder.

Two notes on any mirror. It needs light, and a large mirror needs more of it — a big mirror in a dark cavity shows a large dark area. And the image is reversed, which is a small cognitive tax that everybody pays until the hand learns it.

Keep the surface clean. A mirror is only as good as the reflection.
