The half inch over the 2 inch version is a real difference in use. A wider brush holds more paint and covers more per stroke, which means fewer trips to the pot and a faster job. What it costs is control: a 2-1/2 inch brush is harder to steer into a tight corner and heavier at the end of a day held above shoulder height. Trim painters carry both for that reason — the wide one for the long runs, the narrow one for the fiddly bits.

White Bristle is the specification that must not be missed. This is natural China bristle, and natural bristle is for oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, and solvent-borne coatings only. Natural bristle absorbs water, so latex makes it swell, go limp, and lose its shape — permanently. The synthetic XL line in this range is what latex requires.

For oil work, natural bristle earns its place: it holds more paint, lays off more smoothly, and the natural flagged tips leave a finer finish than synthetics manage.

Angle sash is the cutting-in shape — the angled tip works into corners and along sashes using the point rather than the flat.
