Purdy KRY145024420 White Bristle 2 In. Angle Sash Paint Brush

The Purdy KRY145024420 is a White Bristle 2 inch angle sash paint brush.

The White Bristle designation is the most important line in this listing and the source data does not explain it. White Bristle is natural China bristle, and natural bristle is for oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, and solvent-borne coatings only.

Using it in latex ruins it — not slowly, but within the first wall. Natural bristle absorbs water, and absorbed water makes the bristles swell and go limp. The brush loses its shape and its ability to hold an edge, and it never fully recovers. Anyone who has done it once remembers.

For oil-based work, natural bristle is genuinely better than synthetic: it holds more paint, it lays off more smoothly, and the natural flags at the bristle tips leave a finer finish. That is why it still exists in an era of synthetics.

Angle sash is the shape and it is the trim painter's brush. The angled tip lets the painter cut a clean line into a corner, along a sash, or against a ceiling, using the point of the brush rather than the flat.

At 2 inches this is the standard trim size.

Applications include oil-based enamels, varnishes, stains, trim, and sash work.

Clean in the appropriate solvent — never water.
