Packard Evap Fan Motor 5/8S 30 65514

The Packard 65514 is an evaporator fan motor with a 5/8 inch shaft, supplied for fan applications in commercial refrigeration equipment.

Evaporator fan motors operate in the most thermally demanding position in a refrigeration system. In a freezer application the motor runs continuously below freezing, in air that is depositing moisture as frost, and then passes through a defrost cycle in which the whole evaporator section is warmed and wetted before returning to sub-freezing operation.

Motors specified for this duty are built to tolerate that cycling. Substituting a motor rated only for cooler-temperature service into a freezer position leads to moisture ingress, bearing failure, and a short life.

Confirming the application temperature range alongside the electrical rating is therefore part of selecting a replacement, not an optional refinement.

Shaft diameter and length determine whether the existing fan blade can be reused and where it will sit relative to the coil and guard.
