The DiversiTech 65040 is a 50 watt, 115 volt clockwise rotation unit bearing motor for evaporator and condenser fan duty in commercial refrigeration equipment.
At 50 watts this motor serves slightly larger fan loads than the 35 watt unit, typically driving a larger propeller or a second evaporator fan position in walk-in coolers, freezers, and refrigerated display equipment.
Evaporator fan motors in freezer applications face a specific difficulty: they operate below freezing in an environment where moisture is continually being removed from the air and deposited as frost. During defrost the whole evaporator section warms and wets, then refreezes. Motors specified for freezer service are built to tolerate this cycling, and substituting a motor rated only for cooler temperatures leads to early failure.
Confirm the application temperature range as well as the electrical rating when selecting a replacement.
Rotation must match the fan blade, and blade pitch and diameter must be correct for the airflow the evaporator requires; reduced airflow across an evaporator produces frosting and capacity loss.
