Nidec/Emerson Motor Ref UB 1550-1725 RPM EC5412N

The Nidec/Emerson EC5412N is a unit bearing motor rated 1550 to 1725 RPM for refrigeration evaporator and condenser fan duty.

Evaporator fan motors in refrigerated cabinets run continuously in most designs, independently of whether the compressor is calling, because air circulation within the space is required at all times to keep temperature uniform and to prevent stratification. That continuous duty is what makes bearing life rather than winding life the practical limit on service.

It also means the motor's own heat output is added to the refrigerated space and must be removed by the system. In a walk-in cooler with several evaporator fans, that load is not trivial, which is the reason electronically commutated fan motors have become common in new refrigeration equipment: they consume less power and therefore add less heat, giving a double saving.

For replacement work in existing equipment, the practical requirement is matching the original's electrical rating, rotation, and mounting.
