The Mars M10469 is a multi-horsepower condenser fan motor covering 1/6 to 1/3 horsepower at 825 RPM for outdoor fan applications using larger, slower-turning blades.
Pairing a multi-horsepower winding with the 825 RPM speed class produces a motor suited to the quieter condensing units that manufacturers increasingly build, where a large diameter blade turning slowly delivers the required airflow at reduced sound levels.
Between this motor and its 1075 RPM equivalent, a contractor covers the great majority of residential condenser fan replacements with two part numbers. The essential discipline is reading the failed motor's nameplate speed before choosing between them, since the two are not interchangeable and the consequence of getting it wrong is a system with incorrect condenser airflow.
Where the nameplate is unreadable, the fan blade diameter is a useful indicator: larger blades in a given cabinet size generally indicate the lower speed class.
The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
