The Mars M10723 is a multi-horsepower motor covering 1/4, 1/5, and 1/6 horsepower at 1075 RPM for fan and blower replacement across several OEM ratings.
Three ratings from one part number makes this a practical stocking item for the most frequently encountered band of small fractional motor failures, which in residential and light commercial HVAC means condenser fans and small blowers.
Horsepower is set by tap selection at installation and should reproduce the rating of the motor being replaced. Where the failed motor's nameplate is unreadable, the equipment data plate or the manufacturer's parts listing gives the original specification; guessing at the tap is not a substitute, because both over- and under-selection cause problems.
Documenting the selected tap on the service record matters more with multi-horsepower motors than with single-rated ones, since the installed rating cannot be determined later by inspection.
