The Mars M09931 is a 1/15 horsepower, 1550 RPM, 230 volt clockwise rotation motor for small fan and blower duty in refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
The 230 volt rating distinguishes this motor from its 115 volt counterparts and is common in commercial refrigeration where the condensing unit is already supplied at 230 volts and the fan motors are fed from the same source.
Voltage must be confirmed at the equipment rather than inferred from the application, because both 115 and 230 volt fan motors are used across similar refrigeration equipment depending on the manufacturer and the installation. Connecting a 115 volt motor to a 230 volt supply destroys it within seconds; the reverse leaves a motor that will not start and draws heavy current.
Where a fan motor has failed shortly after a previous replacement, verifying that the supply voltage matches the nameplate is the first check.
Confirm horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, shaft diameter and length, mounting arrangement, and permitted mounting orientation before ordering, and inspect the fan blade for damage and correct pitch while access is available.
