The Lau 60765803 is a fan blade hub with a 3/8 inch bore for adapting propeller fan blades to motor shafts of that diameter.
Three eighths of an inch is a common shaft size on fractional horsepower condenser and ventilation fan motors, which makes this one of the more frequently required hub sizes.
Hub position on the shaft determines where the blade sits relative to the discharge orifice or venturi, and that position has a direct effect on airflow. A propeller fan works most efficiently when the blade sits within the orifice throat as the equipment designer intended; a blade set too far out of the orifice allows air to recirculate around the blade tips, and one set too far in restricts the discharge.
When replacing a blade or hub, the original position should be measured and reproduced rather than estimated.
The set screw must seat on the shaft flat, and the assembly should be checked for free rotation and adequate clearance to the guard and orifice before power is applied.
